Project kind | Automation of a sailing yacht |
---|---|
Client | Royal Huisman |
Location | Vollenhove |
Royal Huisman Shipyard builds highly exclusive, custom design sailing and motor yachts. Moekotte applies redundant PLCs for the purposes of the control systems, and depending on their size, each yacht can comprise up to 25 PLCs and 20,000 I/O. These PLCs are linked to a Citect SCADA Alarm & Monitoring system, which is used to control and visualise the complete operation of the ship.
Moekotte had to orchestrate the technical implementation of iPOD-based technology, in close collaboration with the engineers of Royal Huisman. The Citect SCADA system comprises two redundant servers and total of 18 clients spread throughout the ship. The configurable counters and meters can be adjusted by using a web-based interface.
The outcome of the project was a highly sophisticated, technologically complex SCADA system that was in keeping with the latest insights into operational simplicity and ergonomics.
